USCCG TO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS AT 2003 FOOD MANUFACTURING SUMMIT
CHICAGO
-- USC Consulting Group, an independent
consulting firm specializing in operational
effectiveness and process improvement,
has been selected to participate as
a “solution provider” in
the Food Manufacturing Summit, to be
held February 16 – 18 at Amelia
Island, Florida. George Coffey, SVP/business
development, and David Gustovich, EVP/senior
operations manager, will represent
the firm.
This event, hosted by Marcus-Evans, is designed
to provide senior food manufacturing executives
with the information they need to work through
the many complex issues facing the food industry.
To that end, two interactive workshops will be
conducted:
. Leading change and fostering innovation for sustainable success; and
. Engaging the whole system to accelerate strategy implementation.
In addition, such topics as packaging trends, innovations
in the beverage industry, avoiding contamination
in the food manufacturing process and productivity
initiatives are on the agenda. Presenters will
include Dr. David Lineback, chairman of the
International Union of Food Science and Technology’s
Scientific Council and director of the Joint
Institute for Food Safety & Applied Nutrition;
Kenneth Falci, FDA’s director of the
Office of Scientific Analysis and Support Center
for Food Safety; and Shaun Kim, VP/worldwide
engineering for WM Wrigley Company.
“Process variation is the food industry’s worst enemy,” says
USCCG’s Mr. Coffey, “and the current trend toward automation makes
process variation even harder to spot. It lulls companies into a false sense
of security, so they are less diligent than they need to be about managing their
operations for maximum efficiency.”
Unlike many consulting firms, USCCG tailors its
methodology and approach to productivity improvement
to each client’s individual needs. This means
results will vary but, according to Mr. Coffey,
his firm has been able to improve yields by as
much as 27 percent, throughput by 30 percent and
labor productivity by 20 percent. For more details,
he recommends that interested parties visit the
company’s web site at www.usccg.com.
USC Consulting Group is celebrating its 35th anniversary
in business. The firm excels at process improvement
and offers a broad array of services that include
Six Sigma, systems solutions, supply chain optimization,
inventory control, Lean Manufacturing, post-ERP
support, quality improvement, blended learning
solutions and World Class Maintenance Management.
USCCG food clients have included such major corporations
as Aurora Foods, Coca-Cola, Foster Farms, Heinz,
Molson Brewing, Pillsbury Foods and Tyson.
USCCG has offices in Chicago, Philadelphia, Tampa
and Toronto.
