USCCG Action Plan: Used system review process to gain an understanding of the current route planning process. Worked side-by-side with logistics planner and dispatcher to improve the process. Used automated data collection devices on each tractor to confirm product delivery and trigger invoicing. Used GPS to gather real time tractor location and mileage information. Used internet tools to find backhaul opportunities. Implemented planning and reporting tools to provide more realistic, multi-dimensional view of performance. Increased frequency of inter-divisional (shared) route pairings to reduce transportation costs.
